They say time flies when you’re having fun. No wonder I can’t comprehend that it is already December!!! So, let’s get a little nostalgic together…

It has been quite a year over here at Dream Bird Wines.

2024 was the earliest vintage on record, I couldn’t believe that I was bottling Vermentino and Riesling in May. That trend has been building for a while – but this year it was a real wake up call to what’s happening out there and a reminder that our industry is completely at the whim of the natural environment. A gentle reminder for all of us to be kind to the earth, strive to do better, and stay agile (because Mother Nature is in charge around here).

Despite being (shockingly) early, we got some magnificent fruit off the vines this year. I was stoked to bring THREE new wines to the Dream Bird portfolio. The “Mollyduker” Pinot Noir (which will be coming to the online store soon), the “Golden Child” Chenin Blanc (which has just been bottled), and the “Monty” Tempranillo (which I am bottling up this month).

This year Porters joined the stockist family, with Dream Bird Wines making their way onto the shelves of their Claremont and Langley stores.

Back in August the 2023 Rocket Science Chardonnay was named the Best Geographe Chardonnay at the Labelmakers Group, WA Alternative Varieties Wine Show 2024. It was a real coup for the wine; a pour that I really loved making, which celebrates some sensational fruit from John Small’s Donnybrook site.

And just to continue on the award trail… I’m still on cloud nine following the WA Good Food Guide Wine Awards. That was an incredibly special night. I can feel a little extra pep in my step heading into this next vintage.

And just like that, 2025 is around the corner. I am excited to get cracking on the 2025 harvest – it is always a thrill to see the new year of fruit come in. I am looking forward to having a little bit of slow time with my boys in January. Getting out on the water, surfing, fishing – just being absolute beach bums.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Dream Bird Wines this year. You’re the reason I get to keep doing what I love!

Wishing you all the best for the silly season! Have a very merry time, and a safe and happy new year.

Until next time,

Kym
