"Monty" Tempranillo

"Monty" Tempranillo is a vibrant fruit forward wine with black cherry, mulberry and red liquorice aromas. On the palate the wine is loaded with dark fruits, sarsaparilla, mouthcoating tannin and heaps of lingering earthy flavours. An absolute banger!

Grown on the rolling hills of Nannup this pristine parcel of Tempranillo was machine harvested at night early March and fermented in stainless steel open vats using natural yeasts. The ferment was allowed to reach a max temperature of 28deg with regular hand plunging decreasing as the ferment slowed. Kept on skins until the tannins resolved and then pressed to seasoned oak. No fining required and put to bottle in January to retain it’s beautiful juicy fruit characters.

About the name: Named after our late and ever faithful black Labradoodle Monty, who was given to us at 6 and lived to a ripe old age of 17. A similar story to how I acquired this fruit halfway through vintage.
