Description

Juicy red and purple berry fruits, subtle hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, bright and fresh with soft chalky tannins. Can be served chilled (optimal around 10℃). Deliciously smashable.

Hand-picked on my birthday early March (what a birthday present!), destemmed and fermented as whole berries in an open fermenter. The fermenter was wrapped and gassed for 4 days to promote carbonic maceration. Once the ferment was active, the cap was gently plunged to avoid extracting too much tannin. Pressed off early to finish ferment in stainless steel. Early bottling to retain those juicy berry characters.

About the name: This wine doesn’t know whether it’s Arthur or Martha! Chilled red, who ever heard of such a thing? It’s delicious slightly chilled, but has enough tannin to hold it’s own if you prefer it at room temperature.

Halliday Wine Companion – Jane Faulkner
A wine made to be enjoyed in its youth, chilled or not, and it’s a little ripper. Pops of sweet raspberries, plums, blood orange and so juicy across the mid-weighted palate. Plenty of warm spices from cinnamon bark to star anise with fine sandpaper tannins and mouth-watering acidity. It’s unpretentious and a delicious everyday wine. Consider this a perfect red for warmer weather.
