Description

Pear, guava and subtle florals with a hint of sea brine, and spicy undertones. Medium bodied but complex, with a textured weighty mid-palate, a limey acid backbone, and beautiful minerality and a saline finish. Delightful.

About the name: Goodie Goodie is a reference to my childhood. My sister and I were always joking around and teased each other a lot. Goodie goodie was a term we often used to refer to the other if we were trying to be good for our parents.

The 2023 Vermentino was sourced from a vineyard in the north of the Margaret River region. The fruit was picked in the cool of the morning, then gently crushed and chilled for a 24 hour period for some skin contact. After that it was pressed to stainless tanks with some solids added back for a more textural wine. Wild yeasts fermented the juice to dryness and then the wine was left on lees and stirred periodically for 2 months before being finished for bottling.

Awards

Campbell Mattinson – The Wine Front
This is a vermentino with a lifted, lively, floral persona. Lychee and white flower characters run through citrus, peach and brine, the finish still eager to keep the chatter of flavour going. It all works nicely

The West Australian – Paul Edwards
Vermentino is intrinsically brisk and direct on the palate. A perfect variety for fresh dry white styles and summer quenchers. In this 2024 release, Carr has captured the attractive, zesty nature of the variety, and has deftly built flesh around the bones with some skin contact and yeast lees stirring in the winemaking process. The finished article is rounded yet refreshing, aromatic, bright and gluggable. Enjoy the apple blossom, lime leaf, tarragon and dash of white pepper. A refreshing alternative to a classic white.

Halliday Wine Companion – Jane Faulkner
A simple offering yet pleasant with hints of lavender, lemon with a dash of spice and a lovely saline/sea spray character. Soft acidity keeps the palate lithe and while it finishes short, it’s refreshing.
